What to have ready
Pick these up before you dial, from somewhere clear of the door:
- What happened and what you heard. A loud bang, a slow grind, a hum with no movement, or silence after a storm each point in a different direction.
- Where the door stopped. Fully up, fully down, resting on the floor, or jammed partway tells us how safe the door is right now.
- Door size. Single, double or triple, with rough measurements if you have them, since weight depends on size and that shapes what we bring.
- Opener type. The brand and roughly the age help, as does whether the opener runs but the door does nothing when you press the wall button.
If the door will not budge, a few checks you can try first sometimes bring it back on their own. For the rest, the full menu of what we repair covers everything we take on.
If the door will not close tonight
Safe steps while you wait:
- Keep people, pets and cars clear of the door and the tracks.
- Close and lock the door between the garage and the house.
- Leave the emergency release alone. On a door with a broken spring or an off-track hang, pulling the release can let the door drop fast.
What we do once we get there, and what to do until we arrive picks up from here.
